Our first trip to Africa was truly unforgettable, and staying at the Maasai EcoLodge made it even more special. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views, beautiful accommodations, incredible hospitality, and the genuine warmth of everyone we met. The lodge itself was exceptional. Our room was spacious and very luxurious and the amenities were every bit as impressive as places we have experienced back home and let’s not forget their 5 star chef who made these incredible meals for us. But what made this experience truly extraordinary was discovering the incredible work being done at the Maasai Girls Rescue Center and the surrounding eco-farm. Meeting the girls and their teachers and seeing firsthand the love, dedication, education, and opportunities they are providing was incredibly moving. It is so much more than a place to stay, it is a place that is making a real and lasting difference in the lives of these young women and in the surrounding community. We were also incredibly fortunate to meet all of the girls and teachers, who surprised us with the most beautiful presentation of songs for my birthday. It was such a heartfelt and unexpected gift, and a moment we will treasure forever. ❤️ It was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable and meaningful experiences we had anywhere in Africa. Of course, the safari experiences to Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater were spectacular, but it was the people, the girls, and the mission behind this special place that truly touched our hearts. We came to Africa looking for an adventure and left with memories, friendships, and an experience that will stay with us for a lifetime. We could not recommend the Maasai EcoLodge and the incredible work they are doing highly enough. If you have the opportunity to visit, go and take the time to experience the heart of this place. You will leave with so much more than beautiful photographs. ❤️thank you so much Rick and all your staff please give our best to everyone. Jeff and Helene from Ontario, Canada

Incredible stay at the Massai Ecolodge Incredible stay at the Maasai Eco Lodge in Karatu during our Tanzanian safari. The accommodations, food, grounds and of course the staff were all top notch. We also had a chance to visit the Maasai Girls Rescue Center next door and were inspired by the incredible work being done there. After several days in tented accommodation and bumpy Range Rover touring, I would recommend a stay to anybody looking for a touch of luxury and first class customer service during your visit. When we arrived it was dark so be sure to get clear directions to find it as it’s a bit off the main road.

WOW WOW WOW What can I say but WOW, just WOW. We did a 8 day safari and this was our most favourite lodge/ camp and a spectacular end to our safari holiday. I just wish we could have stayed here for 2 nights to truly experience all it had to offer. The rooms, views and reception area were stunning. We felt privileged to be there and actually had the place to ourselves….which was a little strange as this place should be fully booked every night! All the profit goes to the Maasai girls rescue centre next door that the lodge was built to support rather than rely on donations. I will certainly be contacting them when I get home to see how I can donate in other ways rather than monetary. The staff are super friendly and a special shout out to Happiness who is a beautiful and friendly host, Marbelle who was our smiley, attentive waitress and Jackson the chef. The food was absolutely divine and Jackson has some amazing talent. The food was the best of our entire holiday! I loved the fact that everything served is from the farm they have. The lodge should seriously consider opening the restaurant up to the public and not just guest as the food is 1st class. Well done Jackson!!….can I have your smashed avocado recipe, dauphinois and tartlet recipe in particular please? The Maasai experience was fun and entertaining and it was especially nice to see the staff having fun doing it. It felt like they are well treated and enjoy their work and being together. I hope that is true and that for me this leads to great team work! Thank you for a very memorable stay and I look forward to contacting you when I return the UK.

A very beautiful new lodge in Karatu! I came here for the day to do some cultural activities, tour the Ecofarm, and learn more about the Maasai Girl's Rescue Centre. We had a great time, and the staff are super nice. Great food in the restaurant too!

An Eco-Luxury Experience That Gives Back Our stay at Maasai Eco Lodge in Karatu was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we felt a sense of peace, warmth, and genuine hospitality that is hard to find. The lodge is beautifully set in nature, offering breathtaking views and a calm, refreshing atmosphere. Our room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, blending perfectly with the environment while still providing all the necessary comforts. What made this experience even more special is the incredible impact the lodge has on the local community. The lodge actively supports and empowers Maasai girls, celebrating their achievements and creating meaningful opportunities for their future. Knowing that proceeds from the lodge go directly toward supporting children made our stay even more fulfilling and purposeful. We were especially impressed by the farm-to-table experience — all the food is organically produced directly from their own farm, which we had the opportunity to visit, and it was absolutely amazing. It added such an authentic and wholesome touch to every meal. The cultural experiences were unforgettable — the traditional boma dances were vibrant, authentic, and full of life, and the sundowners were simply magical, with stunning views that made each evening feel special. The service was outstanding — the staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and always ready to assist with a smile. You can truly feel the authenticity and care in everything they do. This is the perfect place to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the beauty of Karatu while also supporting a place that genuinely gives back to the community. We would highly recommend Maasai Eco Lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful, meaningful, and memorable stay. We will definitely be coming back! Jas & Peter

My recent stay at the Maasai Ecolodge in one of their villas has been my best experience so far in Karatu. I was warmly welcomed by Rick (Founder of the MRGC) and his team. During our time visited the Maasai Girls Rescue Centre during our visit and we can attest that staying here is a direct investment in a better future for our rescued girls and the Maasai community. The service was exceptional, we were provided with fresh food from their farm daily which we also had a chance to visit. I would highly recommend anyone to stay at this lodge.

A three night stay at the ecolodge was an incredible experience from start to finish. The views were stunning, and the cabin design was unique and very comfortable, it was the perfect place to rest and recharge. A special thank you to Godlisten, who provided attentive and thoughtful service throughout the stay. The food was outstanding, featuring ingredients grown on the lodge’s farm and prepared with careful attention to dietary needs, including my nut allergy. Camilla at reception was equally wonderful, with a warm welcome from arrival and ensuring everything ran smoothly. One of the most meaningful aspects of the visit was touring the Maasai Girls Rescue Center, where there was an opportunity to meet some of the girls. This added a deeper dimension to the experience. The farm tour was also a highlight, with an appreciation for the lodge’s sustainable approach. I would highly recommend this ecolodge to anyone looking for a peaceful and genuinely memorable stay.

Maasai Ecolodge Luxury 5 Star Experience My husband and I have been visiting the Maasai Girls Rescue Center once a year since 2019. This time we had the awesome experience of staying at the brand new Maasai ecolodge. It is brand new, it is luxurious, it is most definitely a five star lodge! It also overlooks the Rift Valley. The Maasai ecolodge is really close to 3 of the best world renowned National Parks. Want culture? We have it! Special diet? No problem. I am gluten free and the entire kitchen staff was so accommodating for 14 days. They double checked everything the entire time and could easily adapt dishes to my restrictions. My favorite meal choices were the exquisite soups and juices! French press coffee, daily laundry done perfectly and opportunities for add-on al-la-carte. Safari? Sure! Visit the Tanzanite experience? No problem. There is also a cute gift shop with many handmade items. All of this has one main purpose: to fully sustain 75 rescued girls at the Maasai Girls Rescue Center. Please plan to stop in and visit the girls! Or stay longer to volunteer. This entire experience is richly rewarding!

A lasting family memory. Our family stay at the Maasai Ecolodge was unique, inspiring and so much fun! Your stay here allows you to connect directly with the impressive work of the Maasai Girls Rescue Centre - touring the centre, meeting the girls and staff, visiting the farm - and then know that your stay contributes to the sustainability of the project. Our family of four were able to combine a restful stay with learning and meeting wonderful people. The staff team are professional, kind and make you feel so welcome. The service - on our tour, at meals, and sitting around the fire in the evening playing games and talking - felt personal, thoughtful and really top-notch. The accommodations are luxurious - the most comfortable beds we have found yet in East Africa, thoughtfully laid out and spacious family connecting rooms, beautifully kept grounds, pool. Very secure. The view at sunset from the deck is stunning. The food - mostly grown on site - was outstanding! This place is great for families, groups and anyone wishing for a really special memory. Thank you to the whole team.

When I travel, I'm someone who likes comfort but also pays attention to value, and Maasai ecoLodge hit the sweet spot. The rooms are exactly what you want after a long day out: clean, comfortable, good bed, good shower, and plenty of space to spread out your stuff. The property is really beautiful and quiet, with views that remind you you’re actually in the middle of nature, not just another hotel. The staff deserve a special mention. They were consistently attentive and helpful—organizing logistics, checking in on how our day was, making sure we had what we needed—without hovering. It felt very professional but also relaxed and friendly. Food was great: fresh, tasty, and not overcomplicated. A lot of ingredients come from their own farm, which you can tell in the quality. The location also makes it super convenient for visiting different parks, and coming back “home” to a proper meal and a comfortable bed at the end of the day was a huge plus. Will definitely stay here again in the future and recommend it to anyone planning a safari in the area.

Maasai ecoLodge is the perfect mix of 5-star comfort, stunning nature, and genuine heart. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, with thoughtfully designed rooms and views that make you want to slow down and stay longer. The staff are what truly make this place unforgettable—warm, incredibly attentive, and professional without ever feeling pushy. They anticipated what we needed, helped with every little detail, and made the whole stay feel effortless. The food is fresh and delicious (much of it from their own farm), and the cultural experiences feel respectful and authentic rather than “touristy.” On top of that, the lodge is in a fantastic central location for safari trips, making it an ideal base for visiting nearby parks and reserves. What really sets Maasai ecoLodge apart is that your stay also supports the Maasai Girls Rescue Center, so your trip has a meaningful impact beyond just an amazing holiday. If you’re looking for a luxury lodge that truly lives up to its 5-star promise and does good in the world, this is it. Highly recommended. 🌟

Great 5-Star Base for Safaris With a Real Purpose I’m not usually the type of guy who writes reviews, but Maasai ecoLodge really deserved one. My wife and I used it as our base for a safari trip, and it was honestly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. The lodge itself looks and feels like a proper 5-star property: clean, modern, and comfortable, with a lot of character. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had good pressure and hot water—little things that matter after long days out on game drives. The grounds are well kept and really peaceful, with great views that make you actually want to sit outside and just relax. The staff were the standout for me. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive without being over the top. They helped us with organizing our trips, food, and answered a bunch of random questions I had. They checked in just enough to make sure we had everything we needed, but not overly so. Service felt personal, not scripted. Location-wise, it’s in a great spot if you’re doing safaris. We were able to get to different parks from the lodge and still be back in time for a hot meal and a drink in the evening. Speaking of food—the meals were excellent. Fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. If you’re a couple or small group looking for a comfortable, reliable, and genuinely 5-star place to stay during your safari, I’d absolutely recommend Maasai ecoLodge.
